It turns out that the big No. 8 isn't even his own son's favorite player.
As reported by my colleague Vincent Fournier, when Ovechkin was asked who his son's favorite player was, his answer was quite surprising.

Yep! Alex Ovechkin's son's favorite player would be none other than Quebec forward, and new Washington Capitals player, Nicolas Aubé-Kubel.
We love it!
We would like to point out that Aubé-Kubel was born in Slave Lake, Alberta, but he actually grew up in Sorel, Quebec, he moved when he was two years old.
Aubé-Kubel, 26, was claimed from waivers by the Washington Capitals in November 2022. Since then, he has 7 points in 26 games with the Caps.
Obviously, he did something to attract the attention of the young Ovechkin and it's all to his credit.
A nice little anecdote told by "Ovi"!
Aubé-Kubel was a 2nd round pick of the Flyers in 2014 and he is a hard worker.
