While the Toronto Maple Leafs do have many goalies at their disposal it looks like they have officially added another. They have recalled goaltender Matt Murray from his conditioning stint with the Marlies today after spending time on LTIR with a hip injury.
With the Leafs calling up Matt Murray, he is proven to be ready to backup hence why he was sent to the Toronto Marlies on a conditioning loan. Ilya Samsonov didn't have an outing to remember on Saturday night after conceding 5 goals on 27 shots. Despite the bad performance, Sammy didn't have much help as the Leafs' big 4 was practically invisible out there.
Murray is no secret to the big shining lights in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, in 2017 he beat out Marc Andre Fleury for the starting position with his exceptional play which then led to the Pittsburgh Penguins winning their second cup in a row.
