The Maple Leafs haven't had any real playoff success in nearly two decades. While they may simply be cursed, management has another idea.
Maple Leafs Sign Reaves
While the Leafs' top priority should be keeping higher-end free agents such as Ryan O'Reilly and Luke Schenn, they have instead set their sights on Ryan Reaves.
Reaves, one of the more feared enforcers in the league, is also arguably the worst offensive player in the entire NHL. He's very good at fighting, but that's basically it.
The Leafs, who are so desperate to gain some toughness, opted to sign Reaves to a three-year deal. He is already 36.
The deal also carries an AAV of $1.3-million, which is very high for the type of impact he brings.
It will be interesting to see how much of a difference-maker Reaves will be in Toronto, but if I'm a betting man, he won't do all that much.
