There's a constant debate raging on in Leafs' world regarding which member of the Core Four is most valuable to their team. Most people would naturally say Auston Matthews brings the most value to their roster, but not everyone agrees, especially this fan.
Leafs Fan Makes Outrageous Statement Regarding Marner
Let me preface this by saying that Mitch Marner is an incredibly skilled hockey player. That being said, some Leafs fans wildly overvalue his on-ice impact, and the result is this.

This Tweet was in response to another one claiming that Marner has never been the best player on the Maple Leafs.
"Marner, while an excellent player, has never been the best player on the Maple Leafs. Say what you will about everyone's asks, but trading Matthews to pay Marner more would be francise-destructive."
While both fans are entitled to their opinion, we can't see the argument to defend Marner being the best player on the Leafs.
Doubling Down
Another Leafs fan doubled down on the first fan's claim, going after Matthews as a means to defend Marner.
"It's time we all tell the truth that auston is called the most important based on name. His literal name, his center title, the trophies he gets nominated for, etc. Bc of who he is more than what he actually does."
"I agree. There's actual facts where the team has performed worst with marner out of the lineup. And he does several of their jobs. He is the engine. His game effects everyone and everything on the team. By default how does that not make him the most important player?"
As we said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but some of this nonsense is just ridiculous.
