Mark Masters is widely regarded as a prominent hockey reporter, focusing primarily on the Leafs and occasionally on the World Juniors.
Like all journalists, Masters may sometimes pose questions that are too generic or not likely to elicit a response, as was the case during a recent interview with Auston Matthews.
Matthews Displays His Diva Attitude
Following a recent practice, Sheldon Keefe had a brief discussion with Matthews and Mitch Marner. The two players were paired together during the practice, leading fans to speculate that Keefe aimed to boost Matthews' scoring chances.
Unfortunately, on some topics, Matthews doesn't like to talk. Masters experienced this firsthand on Wednesday.
When Masters inquired about the nature of the conversation between Keefe and Matthews, Matthews responded:
"Mark, that's none of your business, honestly. That's between us, I'll leave it at that."
Masters deserves recognition for asking the question, even if he was aware that he might not receive a response. This exchange also provided a rare look into Matthews' personality, which could definitely see some improvement.
