In both cases, we had players who were extremely feared in the NHL who had the opportunity to shine and play night after night. (last year)
And unfortunately, in both cases, we now have players who are too often used as an extra player or who are outright sidelined by their head coach.
Xhekaj and Deslauriers have gone from "regular player guaranteed to play every game" to "player who is at risk of being sent to the stands at any moment".
Nicolas Deslauriers again scratched by the Flyers
See indeed what the Philadelphia organization has just announced.
"Nicolas Deslauriers is officially sent to the stands. Egor Zamula is therefore in the lineup, and Deslauriers is scratched. The Flyers are going 11/7."
- Charlie O'Connor, Philadelphia journalist
It really smells like a trade for Deslauriers, and as you can see in the comments, Flyers fans hate this decision because they love D-Lo.
Deslauriers, 32 years old and a native of La Salle, has three points in 45 games this season (53 penalty minutes). He earns nearly two million per year.
