Yesterday morning, Ottawa Senators forward Nick Cousins broke his silence following what happened Saturday night at the Bell Centre.

After trying to injure Ivan Demidov a few weeks ago, running away from Arber Xhekaj, and then getting a beating from Jayden Struble on Saturday night, Cousins finally addressed the situation in a press conference.
We first got a rather ridiculous explanation, according to which Cousins wanted to "respect the code," in his own words...
Cousins actually challenged players like Brendan Gallagher, Lane Hutson, and Alexandre Carrier - smaller players - because he wanted to avoid dropping the gloves against Arber Xhekaj or Jayden Struble.
In short, Cousins talked about all of this during a press conference in the last few hours.

"The face of Senators' Nick Cousins during media interviews today in Ottawa after his fight Saturday night at Bell Centre with Habs' Jayden Struble."

Here's an excerpt of what dear Nick Cousins had to say yesterday:
"That's how it is sometimes - you have to answer for your actions," admitted Cousins, sporting a noticeable mark under his left eye.

"I'm definitely glad Demidov is OK. I could've been a bit more careful with my stick."

- Nick Cousins

He "could've been a little more careful with his stick"?
Seriously!
Cousins then added:
"I answered for my actions, it's over, and we need to move on," he added.

"He (Struble) asked me a bunch of times, and I told myself I'd wait until the third period," explained Cousins. "I knew it had to happen, but I wanted to do it on my terms, at the moment I thought was right. It was 2-2, we settled it then, and honestly, I don't want to talk about it anymore."

He can say that all he wants, but I'm convinced the Montreal Canadiens players won't be moving on that easily.
Anyway, that's what Cousins had to say yesterday morning!
