Mysterious Announcement From the Islanders: They Have Denied a Patrick Roy Hire
Earlier today, many media outlets reported the hiring of Benoit Desrosiers by the New York Islanders due to the following publication by Stéphane Leroux, from RDS.
"First move by Patrick Roy: The head coach of the Olympiques Benoit Desrosiers, who was his assistant with the Remparts, is going to join him in New York. Serge Beausoleil will resume service behind the bench."
"Benoit Desrosiers (35 years old) will have thus led the Olympiques for 45 games before making the jump to the NHL.
With the Olympiques in full playoff race, they can now rely on the expertise of GM Serge Beausoleil who has 765 games of experience behind the bench." - Via Stéphane Leroux, from RDS
A Strange Announcement from the Islanders
It's extremely rare to see this, but the Islanders just published an official statement to announce a non-hiring and to deny information.
"Statement: Benoit Desrosiers has not been hired by the New York Islanders. It is planned that president and general manager Lou Lamoriello will meet with Desrosiers in the future." - New York Islanders
Details to follow.
