Top Canadiens Prospect Makes Headlines for All the Wrong Reasons Today

Vinzenz Rohrer's name has been everywhere in recent days, and not just within the Montreal Canadiens organization.
The young forward is turning heads all across the hockey world thanks to his dazzling performance at the ongoing IIHF World Championship for Austria's national team.
What was once seen as a "B-level" prospect in Rohrer is now looking more and more like a valuable piece for the Habs.
One thing is clear, he's sending a strong message to Kent Hughes and the Canadiens Organization.
But today, we're talking about Rohrer again, for the wrong reasons.

As we mentioned in previous articles about Rohrer, he's a fiery, rugged, and very intense young forward (despite his smaller frame).. but today, he let that intensity get the best of him.
He was ejected from today's game, and that's a costly loss, as he may well have been the best player on this Cinderella team.

We also have to tip our hats to Canadiens fans for their witty sense of humor about the incident.
They're clearly referencing the unchecked cross-checks from Washington Capitals players on Cole Caufield and Brendan Gallagher, which went virtually unpunished.
Rohrer, a 2022 third-round pick of the Montreal Canadiens, recorded 25 points in 52 games this season in Switzerland's top league.
He now has 6 points in 7 games (including 4 big goals) at the 2025 IIHF World Championship.
