The Montreal Canadiens may have found the perfect replacement for Alex Burrows
Since Alex Burrows' departure, many names have circulated as potential replacements for him at the Montreal Canadiens.
Whether Kent Hughes decides to hire a new assistant coach or not, someone will have to replace Alex Burrows to lead the Canadiens' power play.
It's an extremely important role, given how special teams can completely change the course of a game.
Alex Burrows' replacement might be... Martin St-Louis?
Must read on HabsFanatics
Burrows, who announced this summer that he was leaving his role as an assistant coach for the Montreal Canadiens to spend more time with his family, could indeed be replaced in the simplest way possible.
During an appearance on Tony Marinaro's podcast, the excellent Philippe Boucher mentioned that he does not believe (contrary to some circulating information) that names like Guy Boucher, Bruce Boudreau, or Bob Hartley will be hired by the Montreal Canadiens.
He believes that
Martin St-Louis could completely take over Burrows' role in managing the power play.
Thus, it's possible that the Canadiens will choose not to hire a new assistant coach, deeming that internal skills are sufficient.
«According to Philippe Boucher, who was questioned about the Canadiens' coaching situation by Tony Marinaro, it is possible that having only three coaches behind the bench is enough.
After all, Martin St-Louis is capable of taking charge of the power play (he knows a bit about the power play) and with all the people around the Canadiens, the club does not lack resources.» - DLC
And you, what would you do if you were Kent Hughes? Would you hire a new assistant coach, or would you keep the three men in place while entrusting the power play to Martin St-Louis?
