After his game against the Canadiens, forward Jonathan Drouin broke the silence.
Let's obviously remember that Tuesday night, Martin St-Louis's team won with a score of 2-1 while Drouin was facing his former team for the second time of the season.
Drouin, 28 years old, has 46 points, including 14 goals, in 69 games this season, with his new team.
Sad public outing of Jonathan Drouin related to the Montreal Canadiens and he confirms the rumor that he was overwhelmed by pressure
But what explains his sudden emergence?
He agreed to comment on it:
« I think I'm calmer, he admits. When I was in Montreal, if I didn't get a point after one or two periods, I would get frustrated and somewhat forget about my game. Now, if I don't have points, I don't worry. » - Jonathan Drouin
Clearly, he was putting a lot of pressure on himself in Montreal and seemed to have difficulty managing all that pressure. It's sad to learn this and to learn that he was literally crushed by the pressure, but we are happy for him today.
He went from being an overpaid player to a real bargain for his team, often receiving high praise from his head coach Jared Bednar in the media. He is clearly playing the best hockey of his career!
»Since we passed the first ten games of the season, he's been incredible. He improves every week, he puts in so much time and effort, and he has a great attitude.»
«The guys love him here, and I knew that would be the case, and I am very happy for him», even added his teammate Nathan MacKinnon Clearly, Tuesday's game still had a very special flavor for him:
« It's different from the Bell Centre, but it's still new for me to play against the Canadiens. I was part of that team for six years and seeing people you know, it's a bit strange. » - Jonathan Drouin
We wish him a fantastic end to the season and a great run in the playoffs!
