Last night's game wasn't an easy one for Montreal Canadiens forward Patrik Laine, just like for several other players.

By his own admission, including himself, there were several players who were "sleeping" on the ice last night.
"It was 7-2, that says it all.. some guys were sleeping, myself included." - Patrik Laine
Several experts also weighed in on Laine, including Marco D'Amico:
"You want to give Patrik Laine the benefit of the doubt because of the injuries, but the number of lazy plays continue to add up."

"Yes, he scored a rocket on the PP, but at 5v5, it's been a very difficult last five period. Let's see if he's able to adjust his pace and decisions." - Marco D'Amico
Gilbert Delorme also called out Patrik Laine, and urged the Canadiens to separate him from Ivan Demidov.
That said, Laine responded in the best way today.

Patrik Laine makes a big move live from Brossard to show he wants to make things better

You can't say Laine isn't trying to put in the work.
Laine and Demidov were the first ones to jump on the ice this morning in Brossard, and even right at the start of practice, they were still working to fine-tune their chemistry.
"From the start, Patrik Laine and Ivan Demidov are working together on their passing and one-timer shots.

Of course, Noah Dobson and Kaiden Guhle are absent. Their statuses are day-to-day." - Patrick Guillet
It's a strong gesture from Laine and Demidov, and one that clearly shows they want to make it work!
Everyone noticed it right away this morning.
