Patrik Laine Has Made a Major Decision That Could Affect His Future Following Canadiens' Elimination

As someone like Carey Price could attest, this is a major decision for his future and long-term health, but Laine has ultimately decided not to undergo knee surgery.

It was known that surgery was an option for Laine after what happened earlier in the season. Even though he managed it well throughout the year, he could have chosen to undergo the procedure to ensure everything was fully stabilized. However, Laine is satisfied with how things went over the past few months.

When his return to play was announced, we were told surgery might still be on the table after the season. That will not be the case.

This is good news!

It shows he made the right call by refusing the surgery back in October. It shows there were no setbacks, and most importantly, it means he'll get a full summer of training, something he hasn't had in a very long time.

This bodes well for next season!

In addition to his knee issue, Laine revealed that he broke his finger in Game 2 against the Capitals, which unfortunately caused him to miss the rest of the series.

Laine, 27, recorded 33 points in 52 games this season, including 20 goals. He earns $8.7 million per year through the summer of 2026, and all signs point to him returning with the team next season.
