Patrik Laine has experienced a major tragedy in his personal life, and Luc Gélinas is coming to his defense
In his very interesting recent column on BPM Sports, journalist Luc Gélinas talked about Patrik Laine.
Notably, by confirming that Patrik Laine will NOT have a nanny with the Montreal Canadiens, despite Pierre McGuire's statement, the RDS reporter went further into the challenges Laine has faced in recent years.
And honestly, we should really applaud Patrik Laine's courage.
Patrik Laine's father passed away suddenly when he was only 22 years old
This is what Luc Gélinas briefly recounted this morning. His father was only 54 years old, imagine that.
«Laine, there's something we need to understand... I wouldn't be surprised if he scores 40 goals this year if he stays healthy and plays 75-82 games.»
«You know, at 22, his father passed away, and he was very close to his father. His father was with him most of the time in America... And he didn't pass away from an illness, it was instant, it was completely unexpected.»
«For Laine, it was a massive blow... For young Laine, it was a brutal shock in his life [to experience such a tragedy at only 22 years old].»
- Luc Gélinas
He's absolutely right! And honestly, who can blame the young man for going through a tough period after experiencing such a tragedy?
I hope his former teammates who tried to get him out of Columbus feel ashamed today for letting him down.
Personally, I was not aware of this story at all, and I think it really puts things into perspective.
Today, he seems to be very well-supported, with his beautiful fiancée, Jordan Leigh, and that's a very good thing. They look so happy together.
