The name Patrick Roy has been circulating a lot in recent weeks, especially since the firing of Lou Lamoriello by the New York Islanders.
That said, some of the Islanders' assistant coaches were let go, and for that reason, Roy now has to get to work and replace them fairly quickly.
On that note, rumors suggest that Roy may look within the Montreal Canadiens organization (and the Laval Rocket) to find new assistants.
A rumor involving Patrick Roy and the Montreal Canadiens organization suggests he could indeed pick from Montreal to find new assistant coaches
As accurately pointed out by Charles-Alexis Brisebois from the site DansLesCoulisses, Patrick Roy has always trusted fellow Quebecers to support him.
He did it with the Colorado Avalanche back in the day, and he also started doing it with the New York Islanders.
"And that's where many names could start circulating.
On this subject, Stephan Dupont, who hosts a radio show in Quebec called 'Dupont le matin' on Cogeco, mentioned a few names that could logically come from Quebec.
The first name he brought up was Pascal Vincent. Another logical name could be Martin Laperrière, who is one of Vincent's assistants in Laval.
He worked with Roy for a long time in Quebec (and even with Benoît Desrosiers, actually), and there's a strong bond of trust."

The name Martin Laperrière makes perfect sense!
I know from very reliable sources that Patrick Roy loves Laperrière and has always absolutely loved working with him.
So don't be surprised if the current assistant coach of the Laval Rocket becomes an assistant under Patrick Roy with the New York Islanders.
It's clear that would genuinely please Patrick.
