We continue to closely monitor the goaltending situation with the Montreal Canadiens. Clearly, there is an unusual situation right now, and we truly wonder how it will all end.

Samuel Montembeault is literally playing every game at the moment. He played the "back-to-back" against the Detroit Red Wings last Friday and Saturday, and it seems obvious that Martin St-Louis no longer has any confidence in Cayden Primeau.
Now, for this third game in four days, against a lower-ranked team (the Columbus Blue Jackets), and on the road no less.. Was Cayden Primeau finally going to get a start?

In any case, this is someone who will need a good rest in the coming days.
Things are starting to get ridiculous for young Primeau, as Monty is set to start ten straight games for the Canadiens.
Kent Hughes clearly needs to do something to resolve this situation because Martin St-Louis seems to have moved on from Primeau.

One thing is certain, the waiting period must be seriously dragging on for Primeau.
The goalie hasn't started a game in over three weeks, imagine that.
Primeau, 25 years old, has a record of 2-3-1 this season, with a goals-against average of 4.70 and a historically dismal save percentage of 0.836.
Further details will follow, but this will undoubtedly be a situation that needs to be resolved quickly in Montreal.
In any case, I sadly don't believe that Cayden Primeau would be claimed off NHL waivers, even if he ended up there.
Let's also remember that a few days ago, Martin St-Louis completely lost his cool live from press conference when a journalist asked him about Primeau.
