Among the centers who could potentially join the Montreal Canadiens during the offseason is Bo Horvat.

The New York Islanders forward could very well be one of the first pieces the organization's new management decides to move, as major changes are expected there.
Lou Lamoriello's departure opens the door wide for Horvat's exit, since he was the one who acquired him from the Vancouver Canucks.
Immediately after acquiring him, the Islanders' former GM signed him to a 7-year deal worth $8.5 million per season.
If Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton decide to pursue him, they would have to convince the former Canucks captain to waive his no-trade clause, but they might get a little help from one of their own players.

Could the Canadiens' Future Second-Line Center Be Acquired Thanks to Josh Anderson?

According to various sources, Josh Anderson was one of the groomsmen at Bo Horvat's wedding.

It's funny, but these kinds of connections can actually make a difference.
Bo Horvat also attended Josh Anderson's wedding that took place in Italy last summer:
Could Josh Anderson convince his good friend Bo Horvat to waive his no-trade clause and join the Montreal Canadiens?
Considering that the salary cap will rise significantly over the next few years, Horvat's $8.5 million salary would be less of a burden on the payroll.
In 2023-24, he recorded 57 points, including 28 goals in 81 games with the Islanders, but he had seasons of 68 and 70 points in the two previous campaigns.
It's also worth noting that he is only 30 years old, and he still has several strong seasons ahead. He could be an ideal second-line center to support Nick Suzuki.
