Jacob Fowler Hit With Harsh Setback as Bad News Is Confirmed for Canadiens' Top Prospect
All signs point to bad news for Jacob Fowler fans, as it appears he will be sent to the end of the bench tonight, with the Laval Rocket continuing their playoff run in Rochester.
I find it really unfortunate for his development if he doesn't get the chance to lead Pascal Vincent's squad all the way, as the number one goalie, but hopefully it's only a temporary setback.
Jacob Fowler Would Be "Pushed Aside" From the Laval Rocket Net as Soon as Tonight, in Favor of Cayden Primeau
Primeau was outstanding during the regular season for the Rocket, but he has struggled in the playoffs (no wins, a 3.22 goals-against average, and a .880 save percentage).
As for Fowler, he has a 3-0-0 record, with a goals-against average of 1.00 and a save percentage of .953 in these 2025 AHL playoffs.
"Everything indicates that Cayden Primeau will be in net tonight in Rochester and that he will get the first start of this series. Wow."
As you can see in the comment section, it's far from unanimous.
It would have been quite an experience for the Canadiens' probable future goaltender to immediately hand him the reins of the farm team, but it won't happen for now.
At his press conference, Pascal Vincent refused to confirm anything, but let's just say the hints are pretty clear.
And if it were your decision, which goalie would you have sent to start for the Laval Rocket tonight?
