Despite an excellent start to the season, the Montreal Canadiens still haven't solved the issue of their long-debated second-line center.
But a well-known insider has reacted to a rumor suggesting that Kent Hughes may have his eye on a certain
Tage Thompson.
Acquiring the big center Tage Thompson for the Montreal Canadiens: Marco D'Amico would do it tomorrow morning
As reported by DansLesCoulisses, Marco D'Amico said during a recent appearance on BPM Sports that he wouldn't hesitate for a second to acquire the tall right-handed center from the Buffalo Sabres.

Now, it should be mentioned that there are currently no real trade rumors involving Thompson and the Montreal Canadiens, but it's still worth looking into.
As we know, the Habs have a strong pool of young prospects who could certainly interest teams looking to move some contracts.
Since the Sabres have been stuck in rebuild mode for a while, their general manager, Kevyn Adams, might be tempted to acquire some of these young players, as DLC explains.
According to Elliotte Friedman, on his "32 Thoughts" podcast, he suggested that Tage Thompson's patience is running out. The 28-year-old wants to see real progress in Buffalo, or the Sabres could eventually look at dealing him for multiple assets.
"I do think that it gets into dangerous territory here for the Sabres quickly,"
- Elliotte Friedman
However, due to another situation you're all very familiar with, the Canadiens' GM will have to tread carefully.
"The only plausible solution would be if the Sabres want prospects and draft picks in return for the big right-handed center.
The Habs have players like
Michael Hage,
Alexander Zharovsky,
Jacob Fowler,
David Reinbacher... and they also have the luxury of multiple first-round picks.
But even then, Hughes won't empty his prospect and pick pool just to get a player who can help right now - and the GM won't make a move before knowing what's going to happen with
Sidney Crosby." - DLC
This will be a situation to keep an eye on, but if Thompson grows tired of Buffalo's losing culture, things could get very interesting for the Canadiens.
