The Montreal Canadiens have just made a major announcement regarding Patrik Laine and it's not good news.
Forward Patrik Laine underwent surgery to repair a core muscle injury and will miss three to four months of activity.
The Montreal Canadiens organization made the official announcement, and released an official statement:
"Forward Patrik Laine underwent surgery to repair a core muscle injury. The procedure was performed by Dr. Mark Zoland at Lennox Hill Hospital in New York. Laine's recovery period is estimated to be three to four months."

Wow! Very unfortunate for Patty.
Long-term absence for Montreal Canadiens forward Patrik Laine
And that's not all. Based on what we just saw live from Vancouver (on the ice), it appears like the Montreal Canadiens have officially named Joe Veleno as Laine's permanent replacement in the lineup.
What a turnaround for Veleno - and what sad news for Laine, who will now face serious challenges landing a solid NHL contract next summer.
Patrik Laine, 27 years old, earning $8.7 million per year for one more season (this current one), has had a very disappointing start.
In five games this season, he has 0 goals and 1 assist, with a minus-3 rating, and let's just say it'll be a while before he can improve those stats.
Laine unfortunately hasn't played more than 60 games in a season since 2019-20 due to injuries. He played 52 games with the Canadiens last season.
It's a tough blow for both Patty and the Habs, but fans across Montreal are hoping this setback becomes the spark for another comeback, just like he did last year.
