Players like Ivan Demidov, Lane Hutson, Noah Dobson, and even Michael Hage, however, are not necessarily the organization's best acquisitions.
Those honors, and there are two of them, belong to Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes, who both work from the 7th floor of the Bell Centre.

When he dismissed Marc Bergevin, the owner of the Montreal Canadiens knew a rebuild was inevitable.
He had to choose wisely in order not to waste the opportunity and avoid spinning in circles for too long.
Nearly four years later, it's fair to say that the hiring of Jeff Gorton, followed by Kent Hughes, has been extremely beneficial for the organization.
In a recent discussion with the guys from La Poche Bleue, Tony Marinaro even mentioned that the hiring of this duo is probably the best decision owner Geoff Molson has made since taking over the Montreal franchise.
"The Canadiens have two general managers. It's probably Geoff Molson's best decision. He hit a home run with those two guys."

Although the rebuild is not yet complete, it's clear that it's progressing well. The team's playoff participation last year helped the group improve tremendously, while giving the organization's young players the chance to play meaningful, high-stakes games.
Of course, nothing guarantees a Stanley Cup, but optimism is high in the city. Several analysts even believe that the Canadiens possess one of the richest pools of young talent in the NHL.
All of this excitement surrounding the team in recent years stems not only from Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes but, above all, from Geoff Molson's decision to hire them!
