Coach from the Canadiens organization could get fired soon
While the Montreal Canadiens announced the departure of Kelly Buchberger in the last few hours, Kent Hughes might well announce another departure.
Buchberger's departure raises further doubts about the return of Jean-François Houle behind the bench of the Laval Rocket for next season.
The assistant to the general manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Kent Hughes, John Sedgwick, recently mentioned that expectations were high this year at the Laval Rocket, and he refused to say that head coach JF Houle would be back next year.
Is it over for JF Houle within the Montreal Canadiens organization and the Laval Rocket?
Houle is not Kent Hughes' man, it's important to point out, as he was hired by Marc Bergevin's regime in 2021.
He obviously plays an important role with the Rocket, but also with the Canadiens during various camps and training camp.
"He refused to say more, except to mention that it would be reassessed soon."
So don't be surprised if the Rocket has a new head coach as early as next season.
With the departure of Buchberger, who was a loyal acolyte for Houle, it raises many questions (especially since there were already several).
The departure of JF Houle would be enormous for the Montreal Canadiens organization, and we must not overlook the essential contribution of the Laval Rocket head coach to the organization's young players and the future pillars of the Canadiens.
Having an excellent head coach for its farm team is extremely important for an NHL organization. This is a developing story.
