Despite what happened with Martin St-Louis, despite being left out of the lineup by his head coach for nearly three weeks, the Sheriff is crystal clear.
He holds no grudge against Martin St-Louis for what happened and absolutely feels he still has a place with the Montreal Canadiens.
Arber Xhekaj wants to keep playing for the Montreal Canadiens
It's a situation that stirred a lot of talk in recent weeks, but as you know, Xhekaj didn't play from April 6.. until April 25!
For nearly three weeks, he was regularly scratched by Martin St-Louis (notably at the start of the playoffs), and it was a situation that many fans and experts had criticized.
Now, despite all that, Xhekaj still wants to do everything he can to be an important part of the Canadiens' future.
He holds no resentment toward Martin St-Louis.
"It was tough," admitted the Ontario native, with full honesty.
"It sucks, you're not part of the lineup and you want to be out there with the guys.
You see your teammates after the games and a lot of them are banged up.
There's not much else to do but stay ready."

Xhekaj added that he's confident he's still appreciated by the Canadiens and by Martin St-Louis:
"I still feel appreciated, of course," Xhekaj stated.
"Martin told me I was an important piece and that I needed to stay ready.
Things change quickly sometimes in the NHL."

That should reassure many who feared Xhekaj would be traded this summer or completely removed from the organization's plans.
