Analyst Marc-Olivier Beaudoin has just brought up an unexpected name as a potential acquisition for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.
We didn't see this coming, but it's an idea that seems to be gaining traction and generating a lot of buzz, so here it is.
Matt Martin signed by the Montreal Canadiens and Kent Hughes?
«Matt Martin still doesn't have a contract for the next season.
I would gladly take him to replace
Michael Pezzetta on the 4th line. You?»
- Marc-Olivier Beaudoin
Personally, I believe Pezzetta does a great job in his role, but many seem to agree with the acquisition of Martin.
Matt Martin, 35 years old, is a 6-foot-3, 215-pound forward who has always been praised as an extremely valuable player for the New York Islanders for many years.
Is he the ideal 4th line player?
In any case, he accumulated 8 points in 57 games during the 2023-2024 season, and 19 points in 81 games during the 2022-2023 season.
He has always been solid in the playoffs, is very difficult to play against (according to his opponents), and has amassed 1158 penalty minutes in his NHL career.
For a season at less than $1 million, would you like Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton to sign Matt Martin to help and protect the young players?
