Goaltender Mikus Vecvanags, who was ultimately drafted by the Acadie-Bathurst Titan during the most recent QMJHL international draft, has chosen to turn his back on them and leave the organization.
The young goaltender will therefore play in a lower league.
Let's recall that Martin Lapointe, Director of Player Personnel for the Montreal Canadiens, prematurely announced that Vecvanags would play for the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada next season.
However, he spoke too soon, before the official draft, and the Titan played a trick on the Armada by drafting the goaltender ahead of them.
Following this turn of events, Vecvanags ultimately decided to refuse to report to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan and choose his next team.
Vecvanags, 18, is a 6-foot-3 goaltender who was drafted in 2024 by the Montreal Canadiens, with the 134th overall pick.
Details to follow.
This situation certainly can't be pleasing to Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton.
