We all agree that we're excited to see Ivan Demidov in a Montreal Canadiens uniform.
Just that alone gave me confidence again.
However,
according to what Marco D'Amico reported, even if SKA is eliminated early in the playoffs, Demidov will likely continue playing in the MHL to help his team win the Kharlamov Cup, just like he did in 2024.
An intriguing possible development regarding Ivan Demidov's arrival with the Montreal Canadiens
That said, there's one thing many people forget: Nick Bobrov.
Marc-Olivier Beaudoin, on X, reminded everyone that Bobrov is very well connected in the KHL and especially with SKA.
His father works there, and the relationship between the two organizations remains solid.
In my opinion, Bobrov plays a major role in this case, and if Demidov ends up crossing the Atlantic, it will be largely thanks to him.
Do I still have doubts? Yes.
As long as Demidov isn't at the Habs' practice center in Brossard, I'll remain cautious, but I have a good feeling.
In any case, as Marco D'Amico reminds us, let's remember that the key date is June 1st, since Demidov's contract with SKA officially expires on May 31st.
Unless Hughes and the Canadiens work something out once SKA is eliminated from the playoffs, as we mentioned earlier this week, but it's very unlikely:
