A 116-point player really wants to be acquired by the Canadiens
Less than two months from the NHL draft, Kent Hughes is being approached by extremely promising young players.
As the draft indeed approaches quickly and speculation about the CH's choice is strong, one prospect has openly mentioned wanting to align with the club. It is the young Berkly Catton who, during an interview with Anthony Martineau of TVA Sports, openly announced his play.
He even added more. He already sees himself playing within the club on a line composed of Kirby Dach and Juraj Slafkovsky.

TVA Sports - In the sights of the CH? The prospect who already sees himself with Dach and Slafkovsky
« I would say that a line with me, Kirby Dach, and Juraj Slafkovsky could be very dangerous. Two big and talented players to whom I could bring my vision of the game and my skills [...] It would be an entertaining unit, I believe. » - Berkly Catton
Doesn't this remind you of a certain current player of this same proposed line? On the eve of his draft, Slaf also had similar words. He had mentioned being the ideal winger to complete Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield!
Returning to Catton, the small forward of 5 feet 11 inches and 175 pounds (according to his words) had a thunderous season. At only 17 years old, he accumulated no less than 116 points, including 54 goals, in his second campaign with the Spokane Chiefs in the WHL.
Even though he doesn't want to look too much at the rankings ahead of the draft, Catton is well aware of the forecasts about him. He did not hide his smile when he was told that joining the CH was a strong possibility...
« Even if you don't want to look at the rankings, there's always one that jumps out at you when you open your social media accounts. And if by chance you manage to avoid that, there's one of your good friends who will take pleasure in showing you the latest published (laughs). I've learned to live with it and just tell myself that the team that will select me will do so because they were attracted by my play and personality. That's all that matters to me. »
« The Canadiens? The name says it: it's the team of a country! It would be a dream. A beautiful city, an impressive arena. One of the best crowds in the National League. It would be... really great to land there.»- Berkly Catton
