Earlier today, Kent Hughes took us by surprise by acquiring forward Chris Tierney, who was placed won waivers yesterday by the Florida Panthers.
Following this announcement, many of you asked questions about the reason for this "move" by Kent Hughes.
Why claim Tierney? Is this bad news about Kirby Dach? Is it news that Sean Monahan is really not close to a return to the game?
The Montreal Canadiens' medical updates are so unclear that it's absolutely legitimate to ask questions and look for clues everywhere.

One explanation offered.
Some reporters shed some light on this, and it would simply be related to a lack of forwards:
"Armia is a doubtful case for tomorrow, and the Habs have yet to recall a forward from the Laval Rocket. They're down to 11. There will probably be a recall today or tomorrow."

In the end, it won't have been a recall, but a waiver claim.
"With the uncertainty about Armia, we were missing a forward (which explains the addition of Tierney)."
- Jonathan Bernier, JDM
He gets a great opportunity:
"Chris Tierney is coming to Montreal!
The 28 year old forward will be UFA at the end of this campaign so will be there to fill a jersey given the large number of injuries.
[...]
Heck, the CH has a new UFA in the making to trade at the trade deadline!!!" - Marc-Olivier Beaudoin
"With only 11 healthy forwards, the CH turns to the waivers and claims Chris Tierney.
He has played 13 games in the NHL this season and 20 in the AHL this season.
He's playing on a one-year, $750k contract."
- Patrick Friolet, RDS
It'll be interesting to see if the Tricolore's new forward will be in uniform starting tomorrow against the Philadelphia Flyers.
