We finally know what the Sharks will ask for from Kent Hughes in exchange for Timo Meier and it involves two young
As we mentioned yesterday, reputable tipster David Pagnotta has linked the Montreal Canadiens to San Jose Sharks star Timo Meier.
We love him! He's dominant and still young, which fits perfectly with Kent Hughes' plans.
They won't be the only ones showing interest though, as Meier will be the most coveted player at the next NHL trade deadline.
Meier, 26, earns $6 million per season and will be an RFA next summer.
The price tag is revealed!
As Marco Normandin reports, via reporter Sheng Peng (who covers the San Jose Sharks closely and has sources within the organization), here's what they'd ask for, in exchange for Meier:
A return similar to what the Vancouver Canucks got for Bo Horvat (protected 2023 1st round pick, Anthony Beauvillier, Aatu Raty)
So we're talking about:
- An established NHL player
- A prospect of Raty's caliber
- A first round pick
The journalist adds that the Sharks' GM, Mike Grier, could also demand:
- An established NHL player
- Two prospects a little worse than Raty
- A first round pick.
While a trade involving Meier really does seem like only a matter of time for SJ, do you think the Montreal Canadiens have what it takes to acquire him?
