In the last few minutes, the verdict has officially fallen on a possible major trade involving the excellent Jonathan Toews.
After weeks and weeks of rumors, Jonathan Toews will finally not be traded. It is confirmed.
Moreover, he published an official statement worrying and really sad to explain this decision. Toews still has to deal with worrisome health issues due to the Long COVID.
So he made the (very good) decision to focus on his health. He hasn't played since January 28 and he doesn't want to force himself back into the game to justify any kind of trade
He wanted to be honest with the other teams. He feels that his body is not cooperating right now and is not allowing him to play at a high level.
"Jonathan Toews can't play anymore. Effects of the long Covid means he has to take a break." - Renaud Lavoie
At this point, hockey is really secondary. Let's just sincerely wish him to get healthy again and to be able to live a good life, in top shape, when his hockey career is over.
