The best free agent signing of the summer was undoubtedly the Carolina Hurricanes. Think again! I'm not talking about Jesperi Kotkaniemi, but rather Tony DeAngelo.
The former New York Rangers defenseman was bought out this summer because of his controversial stances and racist actions in the Rangers' dressing room. He was therefore free to sign with any team in the Bettman circuit when the free agent market opened.
Now, he turns out to be a godsend with 14 points in as many games. Remember that DeAngelo signed a one-year contract worth $1 million.
It makes Don Waddell look like a genius, as does the signing of goalie Frederik Andersen. However, KK's should not be overlooked. He'll probably be hearing about it for a long time to come!
Let's get back to the main topic. DeAngelo is expected to test the free agent market again at the end of the season. If he continues to produce at this rate, what might his next contract look like? Would you like to see the Habs make him an offer?
