Currently playing out the final season of an eight-year contract he signed in July 2013, Kristopher Letang is once again having a season that is living up to expectations, as he has 18 points, including a goal, in 24 games so far this campaign.
At 34 years of age, Letang continues to show what he can do when he is healthy. With only a few months left on his contract, the Quebecer is a coveted player, especially with his hometown team, the Montreal Canadiens.
However, there is no doubt that the Penguins' staff will want to keep his services, and that is why a first offer, for two years and worth five million dollars a year, has already been made to their star defenseman.
If this information is true, it will be interesting to see what Letang thinks of this offer, because it is obviously far from what his team would be able to offer him.
The Penguins are probably counting on Letang's attachment to his long-time organization to try to convince him to sign at a discount, but could he still be tempted to make a deal with his childhood team? To be continued...
