Alex Ovechkin truly deserves the nickname "superman" as he continues to make his mark on people's imaginations and shatter old records at the age of 36.
On Saturday night, the Washington Capitals hosted the Columbus Jackets and Alex Ovechkin scored his 20th goal of the season.
But what's so special about this 20th goal? Two things!
With a 17th consecutive season of at least 20 goals, "Ovi" joined Marcel Dionne and Jaromir Jagr at the top of the history books. I remind you that "Ovi" missed a lot of games because of lockouts and the pandemic.
At the same time, with his 750th goal, the "Czar" moved up to 3rd place in the history of the National Hockey League for winning goals. The Caps' captain has 118 career game-winning goals, which is still a colossal haul.
All of this has been achieved in an era where hockey is very difficult and goaltenders have become very big and very technical. What a player, but more importantly, what a phenomenon.
