It's now official, the training camps of the different teams of the National Hockey League are officially launched, and we are watching it closely, especially in Brossard for the Montreal Canadiens.
On the other hand, there are other interesting stories to watch in the NHL, notably on the side of the Carolina Hurricanes, who have already unveiled their first lineup, in the beginning of camp and the position of Jesperi Kotkaniemi makes a lot of reaction.
You know the story, the Canes signed KK, via a hostile offer, offering him $6.1 million (undeserved) for one season, before offering him a very lucrative eight-year contract, worth almost $40 million ($4.82 million per year).
All this, despite a meager 91 points in 237 career games in the NHL, and 31 points in 80 games last season (season + playoffs).
Anyway, despite that, the Canes are really trying to make Kotkaniemi work, and they just put him in the best possible position to start camp.
Here are their first lineup:
Teravainen - Aho - Jarvis
Svechnikov - Kotkaniemi - Necas
Stastny - J. Staal - Fast
Pederson - Martinook - Kase
Kotkaniemi is therefore offered, on a silver platter, the position of second center for Carolina, alongside the excellent Andrei Svechnikov and Martin Necas.
