The Canadiens to trade with the Capitals? Pierre Lebrun reveals some interesting details

As we know, there is a good chance that the Habs will make a roster move very soon due to the fact that the roster is sold out and night after night Martin St-Louis has to send a veteran to the press box.

The likes of Mike Hoffman, Jonathan Drouin, Evgeny Dadonov and Chris Wideman have all gone through this painful process since the start of the season. As long as there are no injuries, the situation shouldn't change.

However, a well-connected insider recently mentioned that Kent Hughes is very active and that a trade could be imminent with the Habs.

As reported by Marc-Olivier Beaudoin, Pierre LeBrun said on TSN that Hughes is currently discussing with his counterpart from the Washington Capitals to complete a trade.

The Habs have a surplus of forwards and in Washington, the organization has just learned that it will be without the services of Connor Brown for a long period.

At this point in the season, it is obvious that Kent Hughes is looking to store for a forward, but as we know, the Habs GM tends to be very patient when it comes to making a deal because he wants to make sure he gets what he wants in return.

But who could be sacrificed in the Habs?

We could easily identify Drouin, Hoffman and Dadonov, but also a certain Joel Armia. The latter has just returned to the game and there have been many trade rumors about him, but because of his annual salary, we should not expect the organization to get the moon for his services.

In this sense, it is likely that if a trade were to occur between the Canadiens and the Capitals, it would be more of a trade where a general manager does a favor for a colleague in need, as was the case with the trade that brought Sean Monahan to Montreal.
