The Montreal Canadiens' 2022 preseason schedule officially begins tonight when Martin St-Louis' team hosts the New Jersey Devils at 7 p.m. at the Bell Centre.
For the occasion, the organization has just released its lineup for tonight's duel, and there are several new trios.
This is major, especially for youngsters Juraj Slafkovsky and Owen Beck, both drafted in 2022, because they get nice promotions.
Beck now finds himself on the "first" trio, along with Cole Caufield and Mike Hoffman. The recent 33rd overall pick of the Tricolore is really impressing a lot of people right now, and he really deserves this opportunity. He will have a big role against the Devils.
"Very interesting to see Owen Beck get an opportunity to play with Cole Caufield and Mike Hoffman tonight.
Beck is smart, quick and his offensive transition game is impressive."
- Patrick Friolet, RDS
As for Slafkovsky, he'll be alongside Kirby Dach, so alongside who could very well be the CH's second center. If the two big forwards play well together, they could possibly stay on the same trio and start the season together. Keep an eye on them!
Here are Martin St-Louis' complete trios and duos:
Cole Caufield - Owen Beck - Mike Hoffman
Rem Pitlick - Kirby Dach - Juraj Slafkovsky
Rafaël Harvey-Pinard - Filip Mesar - Anthony Richard
Michael Pezzetta - Jan Mysak - Joshua Roy
Defense:
Mike Matheson - Justin Barron
Kaiden Guhle - Jordan Harris
Gianni Fairbrother - Mattias Norlinder
Goalies:
Jake Allen
Cayden Primeau
The game will be presented on RDS and 98.5 FM.
