The vast majority of hockey fans are very familiar with the CapFriendly resource, an extremely reliable and comprehensive site that is even used on a daily basis by National Hockey League general managers.
It's a very neutral site, which (almost) never gives its opinion, but recently CapFriendly sent a little tip directed at the Montreal Canadiens.
"The Habs' new policy refusing to disclose contract details is silly.
Start your stopwatches." - CapFriendly
Finally, in the example cited, Eric Engels released the contract details three short minutes after the official announcement (with information missing):
"...and it took three minutes : Eric Engels." - CapFriendly
It's really rare to see them speak out like this, and we can expect it to have a direct impact. It'll be interesting to see the next contract signing that is announced by the CH, to see if they correct the record.
Will this unnecessary censorship of players' salaries stop? To be continued! Let's actually remember that, as reported by Fanadiens, since July 13, the CH has not disclosed ONE salary, during the last signings.
