Wow. We definitely didn't see that one coming.
It's a beautiful story of resilience and determination. Former Montreal Canadiens organization player, Peter Holland, has just signed a professional tryout contract with the Colorado Avalanche!
And judging by the comments, he has a real chance of signing a standard contract.
Why is this such a big surprise and a great story?
Because Holland hasn't played in the NHL since 2017 and he has hardly played hockey since 2021. (he didn't play anywhere last season)
However, he worked extremely hard over the last few months, and he will finally get his chance to surprise everyone.

It's quite an accomplishment for him to land a PTO.
Holland, 32 years old, is a 6-foot-2, 200-pound forward. He was drafted in the 1st round (15th overall pick) in 2009 by the Anaheim Ducks.
He has accumulated 85 points, including 36 goals, in 266 career NHL games, and he indeed did not play hockey at all last season.
The previous season (2021-22), he managed a mere 6 points in just 15 games in Sweden.
Despite all this, he's back on the radar of an NHL team (Colorado) and we sincerely wish him the best of luck at camp!
He played 15 games in two years, no games last season, and no NHL games for more than 5 years. The fact that he's making a comeback is surely inspiring.
