Surprise: a new major wave of layoffs has just been announced
A new day, a new media outlet announcing a massive wave of layoffs.
It's truly sad.
In the last few minutes, we have learned that TSN (Bell Media) has made the decision to cut jobs, and even entire stations.
"Times are changing. TSN1260 has decided to stop. It was an incredible journey. Thank you all for listening. You will hear from us very soon. Thank you again for tuning into the show over the past 20 years." - Jason Gregor
"Today, I was notified by Bell Media that I was laid off. Although shocked, I am so grateful for the past 11 years. It was a dream job, working with great people. JR was kind enough to give me a chance when I returned to Ottawa, and I will be eternally grateful to him." - Shawn Simpson
And there are unfortunately many others.
In total, Bell has cut 1,300 jobs! That's huge!
Six complete stations have shut down.
Imagine the scenario. This morning, at 9 a.m., the hosts were chatting on the radio as if nothing was amiss, they went on break, and they never came back on air. Right in the middle of the show!
The station closed at 9:05 a.m. (local time)
This was the result:
Imagine everyone's surprise!
We sincerely wish the best of luck to the affected employees for the future. Many talented and quality people.
