This is definitely one of the news of the hour and probably the news of the day in the hockey world, as Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes announced yesterday that Carey Price's name will be placed on the long-term injury list and that his 2022-2023 season is obviously over.
This news took many by surprise, especially because of this statement from Stephane Waite:
On July 20, see what Shaun Starr posted:
"Stephane Waite tells us that Carey Price will be ready to play in September and that there is still a lot of good hockey left in him.
He talks to Carey Price regularly and is still pretty close with him."
To say the least, that statement really hasn't aged well. See just what Waite had to say on 98.5 Sports today:
"I know how hard he works, I know how badly he wants to come back, I know how he doesn't want to end his career like this and then, honestly, when I heard that today, from Kent Hughes, I was very disappointed for Carey." - Stephane Waite
The former Habs goaltending coach is clearly disappointed and clearly, his announcement of Carey Price's return to play in July was too hasty.
