While the only three teams that seemed to be in the running to sign Johnny Gaudreau were the New Jersey Devils, the New York Islanders and the New York Rangers, we have just witnessed a major turnaround.
According to the very reliable Elliotte Friedman, Johnny Gaudreau just signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Wow!
We're talking about a seven-year contract, worth $9.8 million annually. This is a very big move by the Blue Jackets here.
Gaudreau, 28, had an incredible 115 points (40 goals) in 82 games in 2021-22 with the Calgary Flames (+14 points in 12 playoff games)
He was even voted, by many, as his team's MVP this season. This is huge.
