Shocking testimony: Carey Price opens up about the real reason he asked for help in 2021

As you know, over the past few years, with injuries, accomplishments, trophies, disappointments, criticisms, staggering performances and personal problems, goalie Carey Price has gone through many emotions.
Away from the public eye, he has had to fight his demons at times, although he has done a remarkable job of hiding it from those closest to him. Probably because of his calm and reassuring temperament.
In a major article just published by The Athletic, an article by Arpon Basu, we learn new information about the day Carey Price decided to seek help for his alcohol problem.
He had never mentioned it, but he just said it publicly. It was an alcohol problem. What courage!
On October 3, 2021, Price woke up one morning and, again he says, he wasn't in shape because of alcohol. He decided enough was enough and he needed to get help.
He was tired of the aftermath of the night before.
So Price had chosen to enter the NHLPA's player assistance program.
The fact that he can talk about it, like this, publicly and openly, is really incredible and courageous.
"Substance abuse is a very big issue in First Nations communities. I have friends and family members who have died from it. So I could have done this in private. No one would have ever known.
But at the end of the day, I figured if I faced it, I could set an example and show that it's okay to ask for help."
