There is a lot of frustration with this issue, and there is now a real possibility that there will be a big turnaround and he will be sent to the junior ranks.
He needs to play hockey, and with 6:51 of ice time on average, that is clearly not enough.
According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, if Wright were to return to the OHL, he would definitely be involved in a major trade.
The Kingston Frontenacs have applied to host the Memorial Cup in 2024 and are hoping to stock up on young players to be more competitive within the next two years. They don't need Wright this year, but they could trade him for a big price.

Friedman adds that, if Wright is indeed sent back to Kingston, it's almost 100% certain he'll be traded.
Will Shane Wright be sent back to the junior ranks? Will he be traded for a multitude of draft picks?
