Possible trade between the Canadiens and Kings: Helge Grans would be a prime target for Kent Hughes

As the start of training camp really begins to approach, Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton may intensify their search for a new right-handed defenseman.
In the last few hours, we've learned that the CH would be looking at another youngster, rather than a veteran like Anton Stralman or P.K. Subban.
So it could obviously be a trade, especially since Hughes made it clear a few weeks ago that his goal is to add a right-handed defenseman by the start of the season. The message has been sent to other general managers.
A POSSIBLE TRADE BETWEEN CH AND THE KINGS?
According to what Marc D'Amico of
Montreal Hockey Now reports, one potential target for the Habs could be young
Helge Grans, a second-round pick of the Kings in 2020 (35th overall).
It makes sense, because L.A. really has a surplus of solid young right-handed defensemen. We recently told you about
Sean Durzi:
That's one young right-handed defenseman from the Kings, but they also have the excellent
Jordan Spence,
Brandt Clarke (8th overall pick in 2021), and rightfully so, Grans.
In his first year in the pros last season, 20-year-old defenseman Helge Grans had 24 points, including seven goals, in 56 games. A solid first season in the American Hockey League for him.
The Kings could use their surplus of young defensemen, and they could (at the same time) take advantage of the CH's surplus of forwards, to add the other top-9 forward they've been after for a while.
This could be a similar situation and transaction to the one between the Colorado Avalanche and the Montreal Canadiens, involving
Justin Barron.
Would the Kings want a
Christian Dvorak, a Mike Hoffman, a
Evgeny Dadonov (combined with a draft pick), in exchange for their promising Helge Grans? To be continued, but it's not a stupid idea.
