In the last few minutes, reputable tipster David Pagnotta has just linked Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens to one of the best wingers in the entire National Hockey League.
Pagnotta, of The Fourth Period, suggests that the CH is in the running to acquire San Jose Sharks star forward Timo Meier."Meier is eligible to become a compensated free agent this summer, and while he offers a qualifying offer of $10 million, any team that acquires him will have worked out a contract extension, eliminating any concerns about his qualifying offer.
If the Sharks find an offer they like, they will give the acquiring team the opportunity to negotiate a contract with his agent.

Meier, 26, has 48 points in 51 games this season.
Meier will become a restricted free agent at the end of the year. He earns $6 million per season (76 points, including 35 goals, in 77 games last season).
This will obviously be a case to watch, but it could really become a home run.
