As you probably already know, the Montreal Canadiens took everyone by surprise this morning when they announced that young Cole Caufield's season is unfortunately over.
No one was expecting it:
"Weird but mostly a shame for Caufield. VERY normal practice yesterday. He even nailed Robidas along the ramp at the end."
So the Habs finally gave a little more information:
"The Habs inform us that Cole Caufield had been playing for some time despite this right shoulder injury.
More information to come."
- Patrick Friolet
"Cole Caufield had been playing with his shoulder injury for quite some time. He was often seen wincing at the bench for the past few weeks."
- Renaud Lavoie
So we're learning that it's not a serious injury that has surfaced in the last few hours. It's really something that Caufield has been dealing with for a while, and the organization finally made the decision that enough was enough, that he needed surgery.
Certainly a difficult decision to make.
It's amazing to think that Caufield was scoring so many goals, and playing so well, while he was injured. Wow.
