Their big acquisition of the summer, forward Max Pacioretty, will be out for a very long time (a minimum of six months).
Pacioretty hasn't really shown any signs of slowing down so far (when he's on the ice), but he's definitely getting injured more often and it seems to be becoming a problem for the 33-year-old.
In 2021-2022, Pacioretty was notably limited to 39 games (out of 82).
Let's remember of course that Max Pacioretty was acquired by the Hurricanes, last July 13, for future considerations.
While this organization was in search of a productive forward, they find themselves with a hefty contract to place on the long-term injured list (and a new need to fill in their top 6).
As reported by HABSolumentFan, Canes general manager Don Waddell was asked to comment on the matter, during an appearance on 99.9 FM The Fan.
Really interesting! So Waddell is already getting trade offers for Pacioretty (from teams that want to put him on their LTIR) and he certainly seems to be considering the idea of making a deal.
It could happen quickly.
Waddell did confirm later that he has been contacted by numerous teams about the former Montreal Canadiens captain. So he really could trade Pacioretty again.
The latter would have played a grand total of ZERO games with the Carolina Hurricanes. A file to watch!
