Max Comtois Makes a Major Statement on the Montreal Canadiens
Quebecois forward Max Comtois is still a free agent and continues to weigh his options as an unrestricted player, giving him the freedom to sign with any team of his choice.
There were rumors linking him to the Montreal Canadiens, especially because he expressed clear interest in playing there. However, it appears that won't materialize.
During his participation in the annual KR8 Classic recently, he was asked about his situation, and he stated:
"I have a few options, even though I'm aware that there aren't many spots left due to the salary cap restrictions.
I want to play for a winning team. I'm tired of losing. I miss the feeling of victory a lot. It's tough on morale to go to the arena knowing things won't go well."
He confirmed that his phone is ringing regularly with interest from several teams. He's simply waiting for the right opportunity and the right offer.
But what about Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens?
Comtois and the Montreal Canadiens
Specifically regarding the Montreal Canadiens, TVA Sports network reports the following:
"Comtois doesn't hide that Montreal would be a preferred destination for him, but Montreal , he confirms, hasn't shown any interest.
'The Canadiens are not among the teams that have contacted my agent,' he admits. 'I have no problem playing in such a demanding market with strong pressure.'

Comtois is currently in Montreal spending the summer with his partner.
The 24-year-old forward has accumulated 86 points, including 38 goals, in 210 NHL games since his arrival in the 2018-2019 season.
Despite the interest in his services, a verdict is still awaited.
