Marc-André Fleury finally with the Montreal Canadiens? Last-minute major statement from his agent
During the visit of goaltender Marc-André Fleury to Montreal today, his agent, Allen Walsh, was interviewed by the excellent Martin Lemay on the airwaves of BPM Sports.
A particularly interesting topic was brought up.
Fleury with the Montreal Canadiens?
«Has there ever been a time when Marc-André Fleury almost came to play for the Montreal Canadiens? Were there discussions? Because people wish to see Marc-André finish his career in Montreal.» - Martin Lemay
See the response from his agent.
«The only time Marc-André almost became a free agent was after his trade from Chicago to Minnesota, and we ended up signing a two-year contract with the Wild at the draft.
Marc-André was five or six days away from being completely free. At the time, we did not discuss with any other club (other than Minnesota).
Marc-André and Bill Guerin (GM of the Wild) have a very good relationship and they are close. [...] Marc wanted to be in Minnesota.»
Allan Walsh
There you have it. That answers the question.
