The Chicago Blackhawks will likely be looking to part with some veterans between now and the trade deadline and the Quebecer would be among the candidates.
Both Capitals goalies, Ilya Samsonov and Vitek Vanecek, have very little experience in net, so in the playoffs, this could become a problem. A goalie with as much experience as Fleury would be beneficial for the American team, if they hope to make it to the playoffs.
With Fleury's experience and Alexander Ovechkin's desire to win, could we see them lift the Stanley Cup together in 2022? Some of the Capitals' veterans are getting older, so the opportunities to win are diminishing year after year. Will Washington go all-in this year?
"Flower" is currently in the final year of a three-year, $7 million contract. If the Capitals are serious about acquiring number 29, the Hawks may have to retain some of his salary on their payroll.
